Canada Anti-theft system testing

Hey everyone, I have a 2005 Corolla CE. Its the pretty basic version with crank windows, but it does have power locks and keyless entry. I believe this year model also comes with the engine immobilizer. The other day I was trying test out the audible security. I rolled down my window, locked the doors and waited for about 1 min. The security light was flashing in the car. I reached in and unlocked the lock from the inside but the system did not go off. As far as I know, this is how the owner's manual tells you to check if the system is working. Am I doing anything wrong? Or should I bring the car to get checked?

Welcome, all 05+ have engine immoblizer, which means it is hard to "hot wire" or copy a key with out the transponder in the key and have your car start. Unless your key fob has an alarm button (not panic) you do not have a factory OEM alarm. If you were to go to walmart and get your current key copied, and use that key, your car will not start since the transponder is not in the key. The blinking security light often gets confused with alarm. When the security light blinks, it means the key is not in the ignition.
