Nice find and lots of good parts on the car, but it's not worth that kind of coin IMO.

You can easily find a 9th gen XRS for around that range or a bit more.

I would think that the modifications done to this cars engine would best a stock XRS. The exterior has also been well modified. I think for 10 grand this thing is a steal. I paid 9k for my Corolla S. It just had an intake and exhaust system and rims. The addition lighting done under the car as well as the muffler were removed. The interior was also painted, but rather shitily in my opinion. Plus there were some other issues her and there.

So basically 10k sounds really good for a ride like this with those miles. Mine only had 10k less.

It does seem like a lot of car for the money. All the interior touches (like the custom door panel inserts and seat covers), and all the quality exterior mods aren't cheap. Not much of that car is done in my taste (a lot of it is ghetto ricer to me), but there's still a ton of money in that car. You'd likely be able to part the mods out that you don't want or need, and have a pretty good car for the money.

I'd get rid of the wood kit and the diamond plate floor mats immediately. Like, yesterday!

Don't kid yourself. A 9th gen XRS has way more performance potential compared to that car. The 2ZZ-GE powerplant can be supercharged as well. Besides, that LE still has rear drum brakes.

I have to agree with JasonA here, it definitely looks ghetto ricer to me. A lot of the exterior modifications are appearance-based and are just plain tacky.

Considering that you can buy a used Impreza WRX for around the same ballpark, there are many better options as far as performance goes.

Check the car here

I was referring to the "out of the box" potential. I realize that if you do some moderate modifications to an XRS you have a pretty well performing ride. But if a person is looking for a car with good performance without doing any more modifications and is interested in a Corolla and no other car, this car I think is a good buy. Also, if you look at my post, I said that the mods would best a STOCK XRS, not a supercharged XRS with a new exhaust system and intakes and whatever else you want to slap on it.

And when it comes to the exterior how else are the mods supposed to be based? Outside of openings in the exterior pieces that increase air flow or aerodynamics there isn't any other purpose than looks. A lot of people modify the exterior for one reason: looks. You want your ride to stand apart, you want it to look better than the stock design. Exterior performance is generally an afterthough. And what is all this talk about "Ghetto" ricer? What does that even mean?

And lastly, there are TONS of other options for better performance in this price range, but we aren't here for Subaru's or Honda's or Mitsu's. We're here for Toyotas, most notably Corollas in this forum.

It doesn't make sense to compare a stock car to a modified one. But given that, I would still go with a stock XRS over that supercharged LE anyday. Main points being: High-revving 2ZZ powerplant (which Lotus now uses), 6-speed manual transmission, 4-wheel disc brakes and the chassis is tuned for performance right from Toyota. A naturally aspirated car is more reliable as well.

The WRX was posted to make a point: you can get so much more car if you shop around with that kind of a budget. A lot of better options exist out there. Toyota isn't the be-all-end-all. Say what you like, but I certainly wouldn't spend THAT kind of money on a Corolla.
