lift engagement????

I've been told by sales rep and tech from different companies that the pfc hydra e manage doesn't work with corolla's valve timing. So confused because so many people say that the hydra, e manage, pfc, etc... all work but these tech people from the companies are telling me not to purchase because it doesn't work
can anyone shine light on the situation as far as their experience, how they may have done it or what not please?

They'll work, but you have to purchase the unit for the Celica GT-S or Matrix XRS application.

Whoever told you that it doesn't.... doesn't know what they're talking about.

It's a must-have modification if you own a Corolla XRS as far as performance goes. Check out 9thgen and newcelica and do a search there.

Can't go wrong with either the Apexi or Hydra unit.

It really depends on where your car likes it the most. It could be 5500 rpm, 5700 rpm and some of the XRS even made the best power all across when lift was set at only 4500 rpm. It is all in the tuning. Tuning is the key.

I personally would set it at 5800 rpm since you still get the kick and dramatic effect at this rpm of lift kicking in. It is also easiest to tune it with lift set at 5800 rpm or higher. Anything below that and you will feel a smooth transition to lift without the kick in the back, which is a lot of fun.

I would say if you want to bolt-on intake, race header (PPE Engineering) and exhaust also then do it first since your tune will be setup for the car with the bolt-ons. If you do it after the tune, your tune will be all messed up due the aftermarket bolt-ons.

BTW, you can either buy hydra EMS or Apexi PFC. Remember, you need to purchase the XRS adapter harness from redliner9k who did the R&D on it and you will be good to go. Redliner9k is the 2ZZ tuning god and knows this engine in and out. You can PM him any question and he will answer. Do a search on redliner9k on google and you will see lots of threads he created on other sites. PM him.
