Canada Looking for led tail lights? 2005 Corolla

Couldn't find a real good post for led tail lights.
I was wondering if anyone had experience with led bulbs or even led light assemblies.
Also was wondering how they are? Did they live up to your expectations?
If anyone has pictures or anything to do with led lighting please post.
Thanks

I'd skip the LED bulbs, but LED housings (OE) are available for our cars. Scour eBay for "1st gen altis tails" or "2nd gen altis tails". The 1st generation Altis tail lamps have a circular LED array, and the 2nd generation Altis pieces have a more horizontal array. I'm always looking for a set of the 2nd gen Altis tails on the cheap.

I picked up a set of drop-in bulbs from autozone for like $17. work fine, I wasn't trying to change the look but rather get the extremly long life span. plus they hardly pull any current, but thats of little use if your cars on. I think that they were 3157 bulbs.

I'll give you a pic when its dark here tonight...dont do the turn signals unless you switch to an electric flasher, as strange things may happen since LEDs work so different compared to incandescent.

You might be able to get away with just replacing the front turn signal bulbs...but both could cause random/slow/rapid/inconsistant flashing.

I tried a set of 30 led bulbs I bought on Ebay. They were too dim to leave them in. If you buy a set make sure they deliver the same lumens as a standard bulb.

Here are mine....they're DOT approved so they must be bright enough....

Lights On (LED on Right)

Brakes (LED on right)

Comparison (Normal Left, LED right)

Close up of LED

Theres not too much difference directly behind, but the leds are more focused, overall light output seems similar.
They do make more expensive Leds that have side mounted leds to disperse light more into the reflector but they're generally not needed for Leds as they are focused internally. But here the stock reflector still reflects some light.

I picked up some LEDs years ago for my old Nissan from www.superbrightleds.com . Not sure if they are still around, but they seemed to do the trick.

IMO, if you have money to spare. Opt for the LED housed taillights.
here's pics of Altis 1st Gen LED tails.
