2006 Corolla - 50K Mile Service

My Corolla is closing in 50K miles. What things need to get done at 50K miles?

Not much really, as long as you've kept up with other maintenance items. For example, how old is your air filter? How old is your cabin filter? If you can't remember ever changing those, or either is real dirty, go ahead and change those out.

Toyota doesn't necessarily recommend it this soon, but some people suggest changing the transaxle fluid every 50k miles. If yours is an automatic, consider having the fluid drained and refilled. I wouldn't pay for a flush. There's little value-added to a flush in my opinion, especially with so few miles. Mine's a manual, and the manual transaxles don't have filters, so I've already changed mine (at about 20k), but it was mostly to switch to a better lubricant. If yours is an automatic transaxle and your car sees a fair amount of short trips and in-town driving, I'd probably at least drain the fluid and refill (and clean the filter screen while you're in there).

And change the engine oil and filter and that's about it. Rotate the tires if it's been a long time or if they're wearing funny.

The OP made his original post around 9PM.... he initially typed Camry in his post so I moved it to the Camry forum thinking it was misplaced.

Then around 10:30pm he edited his posted and it said Corolla, so I guess it was a typo.

1) The fuel filter is non-serviceable. It's part of the fuel pump.
2) There are no spark plug wires on this engine. It's a coil-on-plug (COP) design. The coils fire the plugs directly.
3) The spark plugs are good for 100,000 miles easy. No need to change them now.
4) I wouldn't change it unless there's a specific reason. If the steering system is running fine, I wouldn't mess with it.
