Canada cabin air filter

hey everyone. I'm due soon for my next oil change soon and in fact on the Toyota maintenance schedule, my next visit should be a full maintenance service. The dealership quoted me $130. I'm thinking that I don't really need anything more than the standard oil fluid and filter change. I do not need a tire rotation yet as I was driving on a winter set and I put my all seasons on back in April. The only thing I think I might want to also change is the cabin air filter. I do a lot of daily commutes on the 401 and our summers in Toronto get real smoggy and I have allergies so a clean filter might be a smart idea. Anyone know how easy it is to DIY and anyone have any detailed steps? Should I order the filter from the Toyota dealership or can I buy a replica one from eBay? Would anyone recommend that I do the full maintenance service?

what miles are on the clock usually you would change the air filter/cabin filer and oil filer and oil that's about it i would use Toyota brand because there made for your car your spark plugs are good for 100thousand k..to change the cabin filter its behind the clove box you have to clip it off then you will see some wires just over that there's a black cover with two clips each side just open the clips and there's the filter just take it out and pop the new one in ask you b/f or husband to do for you it only takes a couple of minutes the air filter is easy to change aswell...but you would have to get your oil and oil filter done at any place that changes oil there everywhere just pop in to one..........try use toyota brand........

To change the filter on a North American Corolla, you open the glove box and let it hang open all the way. There's a small Philips head screw that attaches to a small damper on the right side (looks like a shock absorber). Remove this screw to unhook the damper, and pull the glove box door down. You may have to squeeze the sides in to lower the glove box door down all the way, I don't recall.

Directly behind the glove box is the filter, and the access cover for the door. Remove the access cover and just pull the filter straight out. Replace the filter and reverse what you undid to put it back together. It takes all of about 3 minutes.

The part itself should be less than $20 from your dealer. I bought a Fram Fresh Breeze cabin filter for about half that off Amazon.com. I found the Fram to be exactly equivalent to the Toyota filter in terms of size and quality. The Fram filter is supposed to have Arm & Hammer baking soda on it to eliminate odors. I can't tell if it really makes a difference or not, but even without it, it's a quality filter for less cost than the Toyota filter.

Living in NC, with a lot of pollen, I change the cabin filter yearly. It just makes good sense.
