Just wondering. Did this today and was wondering, if this only happens once and a while, would it do anything? and should I use full synthetic and what brand? How many miles or km on sythetic? what is the corolla's in canada odmeter set at miles or km???

No it wouldn't do anything, but prolonged high RPM operation will cause your engine to burn through oil faster than normal driving would. Synthetic is up to you, depends if you do enough driving to warrant the extra cost. Either that, or you plan on keeping your car for a long time. Canadian Corollas (Except those that were imported from the US) odometers are set in kilometers.

I would only use synthetic oil if you run your oil change intervals out to 7,500-10,000 miles. And at that, you'll want to do a Used Oil Analysis to check and see how it's doing. Any conventional oil (even the cheapest stuff) will run out to 5,000 miles in this engine easy. My '07 has a Toyota powertrain warranty out to 100k miles, so I need to change the oil at 5,000 mile intervals while under warranty. For me, synthetic would be a waste. You may or may not be in that same situation.

well ive had my corolla cince 05' and i love to rev it all the way up to the edge of 6k rpm i change my trans oi and eng oil twice as often but i havnt found any metal shavings in either oils from any oil change. i dont think my engine will last up to the pronounced 400k miles i hear these cars get, but i put about 12k miles on my car a year driving like this.
truley a great engine, remember even if you drive like a grandma, if you dont take care of you car it wont last very long
also ive noticed cince ive been using texaco gas (octane 89) for about a year , the chevron with techron, my engine has definatly run a lot smoother after about the 3rd fill up, i havnt filled up anywhere else cince then.
