Audio Setup

i was wondering about the audio setup in my car. 03 corolla le - it has 2 front + 2 rear and 2 tweeter. Are the fronts ones woofer + tweeter or a 2way with a tweeter. And is there a crossover or anything in there somewhere. Someone please explain me how this works

Thank You in advance

Well the stock stereo is 4 channel...so this would mean there must be a crossover somewhere....most likely the tweeters run off the front channel through a crossover since they use so little power. So the tweeters and the font speakers are getting the same signal.

There are no two way speakers in the corolla, there wasn't in mine anyways...

I know this is kinda an old topic, but i didnt think it would be appropriate to start a new one. My question is about the possibility of a crossover. I have an 06 with the 6 speaker setup. If there were to be a crossover, where would it be? Also, how are the tweeters wired into the system? Is it directly to the headunit? or does the headunit shoot off four channels and then they are split at the tweeter / woofer?

EDIT: OK I re-read what Rdkill said and now i get how the tweeters are wired. But I still dont know where the crossover is. Any help on that would be appreciated. Essentially I want to add a new system with its on crossover and i want to make sure i remove the old one so it doesn't interfere with the new one.

There is no crossover. All frequencies are sent to the large speaker in the bottom of the door, and there is a filter on the tweeter to cut out the lower frequencies.

There is a 4 channel output from the headunit. It is split in the door (simple wire splices) with one going to the large speaker, and one to the tweeter with the filter attached. If you look at the tweeter you'll see what looks like a small capacitor soldered onto it. That's as close to a crossover as most all stock 6 speaker setups get.

well, how would you install a component speaker set in the fronts if you have the 6 speaker set up?

Question What did you do?

I saw your post about the front speakers in your car, so i was wondering what happened since I'm about to install a 6.5 inch component system in my 07 corolla. How did you get to the tweeters in the door and was there much modifying?

Ok Im cool on the wiring, but I saw a lot of picture from people who said they had to cut up the old midrange/woofer and use it to make a spacer. I'm cool with that too, but I'm wondering about how the tweeter install went? and how to remove the door panel without messing anything up?
