2006 Conquest almost out of warranty - issues?

Hi all,

I have a 2006 Toyota Corolla Conquest (wagon) with 79,100 kms on it. At the end of the month it is out of warranty, so I was wondering if there was anything I should get the mechanics to look at, before I lose the possibility of free repair work.

- I know the brake pads are the South African model, so perhaps the rest of the car is too, if that matters. (Btw. I am in Australia)

- the acceleration is annoying, in that its very sensitive at the start of any pressure it will rev high & fast

- I have noticed one worrying thing, on the drive home from work when I smoothly get up to 80km/h, it will rev at 3000 for too long, often 12 seconds, and this morning 25 seconds, before finding the next gear and dropping down to 2000rpm. This is on a flat road.

I called and asked a Toyota service guy about the last two points, and he wasn't too worried. Said it could be that the computer is confused, as its my wife that usually drives the car, and she has a bit of a heavy foot, likes to speed around. (Apparently the computer learns the driving habits of its driver.)

Any advice for me?
thanks,
Charlie

Charlie,

You can unplug the battery for a half hour and let all the computers "reset" themselves. That may help bring any driveability issues to the forefront. Do you have any pictures of your wagon? I'd love to see one! Welcome to the forum.
