Have an 07 Corolla with 21000 miles on it. Bought it with 16k miles on it. Right after starting the Main Reqd light flashed for about 5 seconds.
There's an oil change sticker from previous owner stating next oil change is 21100 miles. Well, I changed the oil and filter myself at 19700 miles.

How do you reset the light?

thanks

Just so you don't hear it from others- 1st do a search. Think most work the same way. Try setting the mileage indicator to odometer. Then start with the key in off/locked and hold odometer button in while turning key to 'on' not start. Think you get 5 dashes (-----) which count down to none. When it goes to zero the light should be reset. Turn key to 'off'. Start car and light should not flash. (If it does, I screwed up the procedure, should be in your owner's manual). Good luck!

I read from a site that ....

1.Key to "On". set to "Odometer"(not trip)
2.Key back to "Off".
3. Press and Hold Button on Dash, then Key to "On".

number reads 0000000. turn on the engine and light is now off...
~~~~~~~~~~~
is that the right procedure?
and is this maint required light thing just for your convienience? I just got this light too today; blinking 5~6 times when i turn on the engine. I thought I had to take the car to change engine oil in TOYOTA only!!! and Toyota has there special computer to reset the thing...
So I guess this thing keeps track of distance to tell you when to change? cause I was gonna use Trip meter B to keep track of my engine oil dues....
On mine it starts blinking at 4.5K miles since last reset. Goes steady at 5K. Just a reminder to change the oil.
Man, are you guys aware that certain booklets come with car? Users Manual tells you how to reset the light. Scheduled Maintenance Guide tells you when to change oil.
Bought my last car at a year old. Didn't come with either manual. So I can understand someone not knowing. Plus the stealerships seem to really push 3K mile oil changes vs what the book says. But yes, it does seem easier to ask then to research sometimes.
Just another word: you can (and should) buy a manual, if your car doesn't come with one. The dealer sells it. Ebay is cheaper. Toyota will send you a Scheduled Maintenance Guide and a Warranty Guide for free, if you call them.
