About to buy a 2003 Corolla, anything to look out for?

Hello,

We are considering selling our 2000 Corolla because my girlfriend's co-worker has a 2003 Corolla up for sale. The car is clean and only has 25,000 miles!!

Anyways, since she knows her, she'll sell it to us for 6,000. The car books for 83-8900.

As the title says, anything to look out for on this car? Common issues, etc. I'm only asking because our 2000 has the "ping" and oil burning issue.

We're having a mechanic check it out tomorrow.

Thanks in advance.

what model is it? ce? tranny (std/auto)?

2003 come with a bad belt tensioner for the serp. belt. have them look at that.

other than that, a general inspection should do fine. the "160" point checks are ok, but can only take you so far.

Not sure on the model, the tranny is auto.

We are going to have to wait on taking it to the mechanic(no current insurance on the car). We're still going to look at it and I can check most things but we still want a third party opinion.

Thanks for the tips.

Just looked at it this morning. The car is very clean, runs and drives good. The fluids look fine but we will change them anyways because of the age.

One question though. A little old lady drove the car and she had the airbags disconnected because she didn't feel safe(I know, I know). Anyone know how she may have done this?

If all goes well, we'll have the car sometime this week, I think it's a steal for 6K too.

How much to re-activate the SRS system (airbags)?

Other than that, seems like a good deal... so long as there arn't any zombies or dead hookers in the trunk...

Not sure, we have to have the airbag thing checked.

LOL, I forgot to look for dead hookers!
