Seperating and painting headlights??

Has anyone every seperated their headlights on a 9th gen corolla yet. If so have you painted them? Is it hard? What did you use for paint, primer and sand paper? Did you add extra black silicone when finished? Was the bumper a problem while getting it out?
Any info relating would be extreamly helpful.

i have a 2003 corolla and when i get the car painted i wanna do the housing on the head light black to match the color of the car, like a corvette, but i have after market halo angel eye head lights and it already comes black but its not the same black as the car but i kno you have to remove the whole bumper when changing the head lights, opening them might be a problem because there not meant to be opened after there on the car i would def go to a pro if your gonna do that. i rather pay someone cause i know itll come out right den to mess up on my CAR.
