2003 corolla s

Ok so I get my 2003 corolla S either saturday or monday probably. Now I plan to put my sound system in it But I never had a rolla before so I trying to look for a good D.I.Ythat way I know how to take apart the dash. and so on. My second question is my gf has a 2005 rolla ce and i hate how the gauges light up a nice whiteish blue but the climite control lights up an stupid ugly green. Where can I find a D.I.Y on changing those bulbs to something better coloured. I've looked but didn't really find what I was looking for. Suggestions would be appreciated. Next I really thing those door sill things that light up corolla are freaking sweet. I seen a few pics but where can I find good ones? 2 more things to go.... I really like those nice grills i believe they are called the altis s grills where can I get a good one becuase from searching around there seems to be a difference with how the fit on the 03-04 and the 05-06 and last but not least from looking around it also seems that the fog lights are different in the 03-04 and 05-06 years I really want to make them have those bright kind of lights in it with the blue glow to it. Will that be possible in the 03?

Thanks for all ur help. I'm really new when it comes to toyota's and I want to make sure I do it right.

I can reply to some of your stuff as for your dash and placement of the head unit you.

1. Must use a flat bar to pry the beauty-ring around the shifter after that you remove the two screws right above top of it.

2. Once you have done to above pull the center thermostat piece (its should come out with a gentle pull) after that remove the screw that is right behind that.

3. The console piece is one big piece now from the beauty ring that you removed to the radio itself and it take a little finesse to remove it all with a flat bar.

4. Once you have completed that just get the installation kit and wiring harness and if i remember correctly there were a couple of screws on the radio itself but its nothing you wont be able to see on your own.

As far as the green lights go they are integrated into the plastic housing. You can remove them by twisting them counter clock-wise. I removed mine with a pair of needle nose pliers and some tape around them so i would not damage the bulb.

You can try a number of things in hopes of changing the color i went with a method of purchasing some of the leds that auto-zone had that were peal in stick. However, it is rather frustrating because you must either splice into a accessory wire such as the because it only comes on when the car is on or run a constant wire and a toggle switch in between so that you can turn them on when you wish (pain in the butt with the toggle switch method if you do not want to deal with finding a nice place to hide it).

Another issue that you will run into with those lights is that the are mirrored for the depth of the factory lights. The plastics have reflectors on them and if the new lights are not the same depth you will no get light to the outer sides of the switches.

All in all, its a pain in the ass trying to replace those light and so far i have not ran across any that would simply plug right in to where to factory lights were.

I am going to try to use the factory housing light and run a different LED bulb through it and give it a try. Sorry if the post ran a little long on this lol its something have been trying to tinker with for a little while now.

The lights with the blue hue to them come in all sizes for your high beams, low beams, and the fogs as well.

I think they are called HID lights you can purchase them off of ebay or your local auto store only downside to making the fogs HID lights is that you will be blinding the on coming drivers.

You can find some great DIYs on 9th_gen_corolla.com (without the "_"). It shows you how to change the LEDs that color the radio and the HVAC dials. I haven't done it on mine, but it looks easy.

The fog lamps are different between 03-04 and 05-08. If you're doing fog lamps in your girlfriend's CE, you'll need the 05-08 style. The lamp housings you get on eBay really suck in terms of optics (click on the link in my signature for pictures). I'd recommend genuine Toyota fog lamp housings.

I would highly recommend using the ISO-DIN dash kit made by Metra versus the Scosche kit. Cleaner look and more solid support of the head unit.

You could just take the green rubbers off of the stock HVAC lights and replace them like I did to change color...then you still have stock bulbs. I made some filters out of some photo light filters to change the color of mine, molded them to fit the bulb (sort of). If not go to super bright leds website and they have direct LED replacments for the dash lights. Also the lighted rocker panel covers (in-door) are usually for the XRS I think.

HID lights in the fog light area may also overheat since the foglight space is so small, so be careful. Especially if they are Chinese ones lol.

I've managed to find a head unit that matches (at least somewhat) the green dash lights:

I like it.
