USA Help narrow down the problem

I have a start up squeaky sound from the engine area of my 2004 Corolla with 56k. Could it be a belt, a pulley, water pump, or what? After about 5 mins from cold to warm it goes away and doesn't return till the AM start up the next day. Any suggestions?

Belt is $30 and at the dealer 0.5 hours of labor at the dealer. It actually takes 1 min to take off the belt and 3 min to put it on. Also when they are replacing the belt have them check the tensioner too. But if the noise goes away, then it is likely the belt.

Could be a belt or a weak tensioner. If the belt is old, I would try that first and then replace the tensioner if the noise is still there.

There is a TSB for the Belt Tensioner Assembly. I just had mine replaced under warranty and the squeaking sound has dissappeared. I googled the TSB for my car , 2005 Corolla LE.

yeah my belt does the same thing, but i just ignore it , been doing so for 30k miles... i check about every 2 for wear and tear, there isnt any wear n tear.

so is this a common tensioner problem?

very common issue.

less common, but should check for is if the water pump is leaking.

fluid from the pump will spill onto the belt thereby causing the squeak sound that goes away when warm .
