Matrix 16" Alloys on Corolla

Anyone done, seen or have an opinion on this? The 2003-8 Matrix and Corolla have the same bolt pattern and the standard Matrix tire outside diameter is very close to the Corolla's. I thought the larger wheels and lower profile tires would improve the Corolla's look and maybe improve ride and handling.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Wheel offset for matrix is 38mm compared to corolla 03 to 08 is 45mm.
May have fitment issues due to less offset. Anyways check first if it fit on corolla's front wheel.

Do you mean these ones? These come standard on the 9th gen XRS.

Exage, thanks for that picture. The wheels look great, not too flashy. Not too many XRS models around that I've seen so I'm not sure if they're the Matrix rims but they certainly look the same. I guess this is a picture of yours...are the tires 205-55-16?

Yep that's my beast! I agree, they look really nice on the Corolla. The tire size is actually 195-55-16, so the XRS still has the same width as the CE, LE, S (but in my opinion I think they should be wider).

A Matrix I pulled off of google

Sorry this is the only real side shot I have of my car...

As atifkm posted above, I would check the fitment first, because they might be the same... or might not!

Yes the Matrix one's will fit your Corolla. They have the same bolt pattern.

On a side note, the Corolla XRS 16 inch rims are NOT identical to the Matrix 16 inch rims despite their exact same design.

I can confirm that however the Corolla XRS stock 16 inch rims are a bit lighter (by 2 pounds) and narrower by 0.5 inches compared to the Matrix 16 inch rims that weigh 23 pounds so the size specs would be 16 x 6 for Corolla XRS vs 16.5 x 6 for Matrix.

Silverolla, thanks for clearing things up. I kind of thought all you said was the case but it's always reassuring to get confirmation.

Now to find a set. The last ones I saw on Kijiji were being sold by a guy who seemed...ummm...sketchy. No sense getting into legal trouble over some used rims.

I think you mean 16 x 6.5 for the Matrix.
