Where in the world can I find an OEM PCV valve?

I have looked high and low for even a part number for an OEM PCV valve for my 08' Corolla CE. Calls to numerous Toyota dealers yielded nothing. All they would say is that this is not an item they are willing to stock as it is deemed unneeded for replacement.

That doesn't sound right.

Anyway, I found a Novo and a Fram branded PCV but there are two options listed.

One is for a 16mm thread and the other is for a 3/8" thread. How do I know which one I have on my Corolla?

Thanks in advance and good to be on this board.

Welcome,

Why do you feel it needs to be replaced?

I have other vehicles that I have always replaced PCV's on at 15-20K. It is generally a 3 dollar part and if not replaced on certain vehicles, it can cause pressurization and sludging problems. I do not want to have to keep taking off that stupid plastic cover, taking off the hose, unscrewing the PCV, blowing/sucking on it to check if it is working, and reinstalling everything. I just want to replace the cheap part every 15K or so, but I would prefer the OEM of it rather than the Fram equivalent. Is there something I am missing? I am no an expert on Corollas, as this 08 is my first one. If they generally go a long time with a working PCV, I'd be all ears. This car has no car payment and I fully intend to make this vehicle last 250K through very thorough maintenance procedures/driving habits/proper fluid choice, etc. It is not enough for me to listen to the Toyota dealer who says that the ATF is lifetime, the PCV is lifetime, etc. Yeah, it is lifetime if you are dumping the car at 100K.

There are two part number for the PCV, as you found out it depends on thread size, depending on the location of the vehicle made. Go to another dealer and give them your VIN or look at the part number on the PVC itself. Do not use the fram. For whatever reason PCV valves should be OEM. I replace mine ever 60K miles as preventative maintenance, they are cheap.

I'll just go the easiest route and see if the PCV has a part number on it. I know from taking a socket to it already that it is really in there. Sheesh. Dumb question, but this thing is normally and not reverse threaded, right?

They stock them, make sure to give VIN, I did not and found out the hard way. I think the guy told me the part number for mine was for the camry too, I cannot confirm that.

It will either be part number 12204-22041 or 12204-22051. It is a $5.30 part and will come with a thread sealer on it. Mine was 12204-22051 and car made in Canada.

Thanks very much for the tip.

The sticker on my Corolla says made in "NUUMI Plant, Fremont California".

Toyota makes it very confusing to find such a minor part. I found six different types of PCVs and they all say good for 2005-2008 Corolla 1.8 1ZZFE "R"
