P0440, P0441, P0446,

Hi Guys,

I have all three codes P0440, P0441, P0446, active for the check engine light.
As I was reading the forums is seems that the best bet is the VSV going bad. Does any one have any suggestions? Should I start from that and if that does work change the Vapor canister? How hard is it to change the VSV, anyone have any basic instructions or suggestions?

This is for a Corolla 2003 LE has over 92K miles.

The other problem I have is the driver's door lock does not want to work - the one with the red sticker on it. Each time I leave the car I have to manually switch it to lock the doors. The lock and unlock button works just fine it will lock/unlock all doors except the one by the driver. To me it seems like the motor went bad. Suggestions? Any part numbers I should look into?

FYI this is my first post.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
Jack

any updates?

jacksss123, Any updates on your codes? What did you end up doing. My friend has all three as well (in addition to the infamous 0420). Just doing some research on these codes before embarking on some attempts to fix. Thanks.

I doubt that poster is still around. It could be many things, like the VSV, vent valves, bad vent line, cut off valve, purge solenoid, canister, or loose gas cap, etc. All of these codes are emission related and should be covered under the 8 year 80K miles emissions warranty, how many miles on your friends corolla?

120000, his warranty is over I'm sure. I've read tons of posts on these codes. I'm zeroing in on just what you said - the cannister, lines, vsv, etc.

Smoke test would help narrow it down.

Yeah, got that in my reading. Is there a product on the market that does that? I don't want to go to the dealer!
