USA Oil Leak 2007 corolla

I have just started noticing oil under my 2007, it has 29K on it. It is just a drop or two here and there. I wiggled under and it appears to be coming from between the engine and the fire wall, above the oil pan. I checked the oil filter and it looks intact. Any Ideals?? Thanks for your Help! Spin.

It is very rare to see a 07 low mileage car have an oil leak unless its something stupid like a loose drain plug or loose oil filter. Stuff like that happens all the time especially if you go somewhere like jiffy lube. Your best bet is change the oil and make sure the drain plug it back on nice and tight. For the oil filter check that the old filters seal is off and that the new one is on nice and tight also. (not overly super tight)

It shouldn't be the oil filter if it's coming from the rear side of the engine, from above the oil pan. How far above the oil pan is wet? It may be a bad valve cover seal back there. Anything is possible...could have a piece of grit in it or a defective gasket that got cut or something...

Keep a very close eye on it, might get it under the warranty.

Check the timing chain tensioner. It mounts through the timing cover near the firewall. I have seen the o-ring for the tensioner go bad and cause oil leaks. 29k is kind of early for this to happen but anything is possible.

Sure!! anything is possible. I only mentioned the o-ring for the tensioner because its the most common item. I would clean the area down and put in leak detection dye to pin point the leak.

Thanks for the replys, warranty good through feb 2010. Oil pan leak?? this was one of the areas I wiped down while under the car, didn't look like the source of the leak. Wiped up above it(is this where the cam chain tensioner lives?) and cleaned it, its just hard to see anything! I have a mirror "on a stik" I'll see if that could get me a better look! Thanks again

Canada

did you change oil yourself? if so there should be a paper/fiber washer if you don't have that, that might be where the leak come from.

I was able to get my fat A^% up underneath the car last night and wiped around the oil pan fairly dry, I was able to look up and see that the power steering pump?? had some oil dropplets on it! This could be the source of my leaking oil. I got back out from underneath the car and looked at the ps tank. It showed the high mark when hot and the high mark when cold, it was about 3/8" above the "high when hot" mark. And it was at ambiant tempature. What do you think ?? Drain the resivoir??

The reservoir shouldn't affect that. If the PS pump has oil on it, it's possible that a seal is leaking on the PS pump.
