USA 45,000 Mile 2005 Corolla Check-up

It is time for me to take the Corolla in for the 45,000 miles preventative maintenance check up.

Is it better to take the Corolla to the Toyota dealer for the check up, or is it ok to take it to some other shop because it will probable be less of a financial hardship?

Thanks guys. d

Why not do it yourself? At that mileage mark I plan on a drain and refill of my atf, flush coolant, and maybe flush the power steering lines, and brake lines. and of coarse an oil change

Dealership normally charge a lot more for their service compared to independent shops. Check off the stuff that can be done yourself (or a shop) such as oil and filter change, tire rotation, air filter, and etc. Let the dealer handle the stuff that requires OEM material such as coolant flush, transmission fluid, and etc.

+1, Do it yourself. Save some money. I would of coarse change the oil and filter, drain and refill trans fluid, replace air filter. The coolant is long life, my owners manual states that the factory fill is good for 10yrs or 100,000 miles. I would leave the coolant go unless it is not the factory fill for some reason.

Rn't 15k, 30k, and 45k's required....

Rn't 15k, 30k, and 45k's required to be done by a licensed mechanic so that you have documents that prove it has been worked on?

Not at all. As long as you have a receipt for your work (including parts purchased by you and installed by you), there's very little they have to stand on as far as warranty denial goes.
