I really like the "frameless" wiper blades the newer "aero" style, but you can't really re-fill them, and they're expensive if they don't last long. Turns out the 2009 Mazda 6 has the same length of wiper blades that our 9th gen Corollas do (24 driver, 18 passenger). And it has an OEM aero style blade holder. The wiper arm uses the same "hook" design that our cars do, so the blades are a direct swap. The Mazda 6 blade holders are re-fillable, and look much better than the framed blades and even the universal frameless ones in my opinion. I'll take a picture of them tonight. They look real sharp on the Corolla.
Kind of. The frameless ones (such as the Bosch Icon, Michelin Radius, etc) have no frame, so they're flimsy. I don't really like that. They're also not re-fillable. I don't really like that either (I'm a fan of re-fills). I like the fact that they're low-profile, but I don't like the other trade-offs.
These wipers off the Mazda 6 are VERY low-profile, but also have a traditional rigid frame inside of them (though the frame is obviously much smaller than a traditional blade). You can re-fill these when the need arises, which appeals to me. And when you lift them off the glass to wash the car, they don't go limp like the universal frameless blades. I forgot to get a picture of them last night, but I'll try tonight.
Pardon the dust; the car was parked outside for a few nights this week. You can see that the wipers are very low profile, yet they still have a "frame" and take a standard re-fill like a conventional wiper might. If you're like me and like the concept of the new "aero" blades, but not the price of paying full cost for a new set to replace when the rubber goes bad, look into something like these!
I have never been more excited by windshield wipers in my life. If you don't mind my asking, how much did you pay for them? I think that'll be my next purchase, since I need new wipers anyways. it just cleans up the front end very nicely. Odd how the little stuff does that.
The blades look great. I was also thinking about frameless blades also such as the Bosch Icons but they can get pricey. Have you tried them out in the rain yet?
I also noticed a 10th gen in a parking lot that had the EXACT same blades. Well, I'm not sure if the lengths are the same on a 10th gen, but the style and way they connect to the wiper arms is exactly the same.
So maybe a lot of OEMs (including Toyota) use this style of blade holder now. I've seen some on some GM cars (like the new Impala), but they seemed to use a special wiper arm.

It has already been done. The fit is great but the size is different. 9th Gen is 24” & 18” and the 10th Gen is 26” & 16”

Thanks for the measurements. Yeah, that passenger wiper DID look small on the 10th gen car, which made me question whether or not the lengths are the same.
