A lot of people know / have heard about HIDs, but I wanna find out how many people here have HIDs on their corollas. Like what brand, temp, wattage, and headlight housing.
Right now I have 55watt DDM tuning HIDs in aftermarket projectors, but light output sucks. What does everyone else have?
Well, I have 8k HID kit. If you are looking to get an HID kit with more than 8k expect to see more of a blue-ish hue along with loss of brightness. I would reccomend either a 6k (Bright White) or an 8k (Bright Blue-white).
An 10k is good too but it is VERY BLUE. and not very bright.
Well... a 3k HID kit is a great lighting for Fog Lights because of its yellow hue. But yes...Stay withing the ranges of about 4k to 5k. <-- This is to get quality crystal white lighting.
If you guys want to get a retro done, there is info on 9thgen about a groupbuy, Rich from HID illusionz is awesome at his work
you can use your old hid kit (still would need d2s bulbs though) so your hid kit won't go to complete waste
oh and aftermarket projectors are horrible I really regret getting them, even though they look hot on my car, lol
they're okay, you can get them on after market projectors, or put them on yourself, but htis means you gotta open the headlights and do it yourself
going with aftermarket projecotrs would be best for just getting halos, but you lose light output so its a tradeoff for them
you could get a retrofit done (*************.com) and have them add halos on, if you don't like em they can get rid of it and you can just keep teh retrofit with the best HID out there
I have seen people use metallic tape as projectors. (Tape that is covered with Aluminum). They did not lose that much light output when compared to the stock lumen output.

You still lost output though? then whats the point? if you're going to upgrade lights you want them better, now slightly worse or equal. its just a waste of money and time to do that
and they still probably had to open the headlights to get the tape in.
