tire wear

I own a 2005 Corolla XRS with 71k. My first set of michelins went 52k with even wear. Sidewall was giving it up. My second set on the rear are getting cut bad on the inside. Tires were rotated and then I had it aligned and was told the rear was within tolerance but the front was out. Got any insight? Thanks, Rockit

What do you mean by the rear tires "are getting cut bad on the inside"? Do you mean the tread is simply wearing down more on the inside than the outside? Are both tires on the rear doing it (wearing the inner edges)? If so, it'd be almost impossible for the front to be causing that. Is your second set of tires the same make/model as the first set? Correct tire size?

What are the actual alignment numbers on the rear of your car? When you got it aligned, they probably gave you (or had the ability to give you) a sheet that shows the actual numbers for all four corners. That would be helpful.

Poor air pressure most likely, if it's not because of alignment.
