Can I use a ECM off a 2005-2007 in my 2003

Can I use a ECM off a 2005-2007 in my 2003? Are they all the same from 2003-2008? I need my ECM flashed but might be cheaper to get a new ECM if it will work. Thanks.

I think the switch to a drive by wire ECM might cause problems... so I wouldn't bet they're compatible.

They are not interchangeable. The 2007-05 model years use a transponder key, therfore the pcm will be looking for a matching chip key to allow the vehicle to start. I would stick with the reflashing.

I didn't thing that the Toyota ECMs were completely flashable - or at least to the extent of other manufacturers. I know that you can burn-in a new configuration for certain parameters (emissions, shift logic, etc.) but must be done through a Toyota scan tool. I have not seen any aftermarket alternatives as of yet. Just curious, what are your plans for the OEM ECM?
