Canada Broken Storage Slot Door on 05

Hello i have 2005 Corolla S.

The top middle storage drawer. The slot door on it is broken. The door will not fully close.
The right corner plastic on the door is broken,.

What are some suggestions on how to fix this little door so I can fully close it?

Anyone else have similar problems?

I have used adhesive backed magnetic strips to repair them from a functional stand point.

This is a chronic problem on all 03-08 Corollas, and all the satisfaction you will ever get from Toyota is a
$300+ bill to replace the entire fascia. This is why the 09 models have redesigned dash panels that eliminate the troublesome door. I have two Corollas, both with missing doors. The cause...cheap plastic
pivot pins that wear through and break off. I am actually surprised by this, since the rest of the car definitely
lives up to it's excellent reputation of quality.

My clock didn't work, one of the green backlight led light on the hvac control didn't work and one of my drawers were broke like yours. I purchased a full panel with all of that stuff included on ebay for $60 shipped. Solved all three of my problems with one quick install. So I would check ebay.

I used some epoxy and glued both drawers shut. The top one fell off and the bottom one would open if I accelerated too fast, which was damned annoying.

I didn't really keep anything in the drawers anyway, so this was probably the quickest and cheapest way to fix the problem. If I ever feel like I want the drawers back, I could scour eBay for a replacement as rainking suggested.

If its the bottom drawer put a big magic marker in it so the weight will prevent it from opening when you acelerrate.

If its the drawer directly under the radio then break the door off like i did.

I just fixed my two drawers. The upper had the broken pivot pin, so I drilled a small hole and used a small sheetmetal screw and applied epoxy to strengthen the area. Now it works great. Also my recirculate button had the clear plastic piece fall put that helps illuminate the green led. I used a clear piece of flexible plastic and cut it to size, placed it in the square hole, and used a dab of crazy glue. It works good now, and most important I can actually see the green led. Didn't cost me anything either just stuff I have laying around.

I actually eliminated the top door, which had broken pins to begin with. This gives you a rather handy storage bin for stuff like a small garage door opener. As for the lower door, I discovered that the tension spring, obviously too strong
for this operation, was sawing through the plastic holes that it fits into. A little creative bending with a long nosed pliers took out some of the tension, as well as drilling out two new anchoring holes for the spring has worked well...at least for now. I believe that the Japanese designer who came up with this design has since committed SUBUKU !

I fixed both my doors also.
The top door the pin hinge broke so I bent .080 wire to a 90 angle and glued it to the inside of the box so it basicly made a new hinge for the door.
The bottom door the spring broke the door where it connects. So I glued a small piece of sheet metal to make a new hinge on the door. I drilled the hole first where the spring connects.

So far so good.

I have a pretty simple fix that not only works well but also looks good. I basically took out the original clips and just used small magnets to hold the door in place.
