Oil drain plug and filter torque specs?

I 'll be changing the oil and filter on my girl friends 05 Corolla and do not have a manual yet. Can someone give me the torque requirements for the oil drain plug and the oil filter.

the oil filter doesnt have a torque spec, you just turn it 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn after you feel the rubber gasket on it contact the block. as for the drain plug, i dont know what the spec is, i just tighten it by hand till i feel like its sufficiently tight lol.

Honestly no one really uses a torque wrench to torque down a oil drain plug. Just tighten it but don't over do it or else the next thing you try to loosen the plug it won't be so easy.
As for the oil filter just hand tight it. Make sure the old oil filter gasket is off the filter.
After everything is done start the car and make sure theres no leaks and your good.

EVERYTHING on a car has a spec. My "hand tight torque" is probably different

from yours.

Using SST, tighten it an additional 3/4 turn

Thanks for the torque spec's. I know there aren't to many things on the cars that do not require torquing and I was sure the drain plug and filter would.

In my early day's, hand tightening was good enough. I've gotten into the habit of torque everything on my bikes that require torquing that now it carries over to my other vehicles.
