Rear Defroster problem

I got a rear defroster problem on my 03 corolla, push the button and the light would turn on but doesn't seem like its melting the ice on the back of the rear window.

anyone know where to begin? where would I look into? I can't even find the wires that lead up to window..

I would check the heater grid lines on the rear glass for any damaged or missing sections. Many auto parts stores sell rear defogger grid repair kits. Hope this helps.

I think it is 37, but check 29 too.

You may be able to test replace 36 in the 37 slot to see if the defroster works.

The instrument pannel fuse is above the dead pedal. If you lay on your back with your head on the dead pedal and look up, you will see a bunch of wires and a small fuse box. Remove the fuse cover and look for #37 that is on the sheet.

Step 1. Check the fuse to make sure it's powerful enough to draw sufficient current from the car battery to run the defroster. Use a voltmeter to determine the strength of the fuse. Install a new fuse if both sides don't register voltage.

Step 2. Ensure that the defroster grid wiring terminals are attached. One terminal is located on either side of the grid on the rear window. They frequently get dislodged and break the connection to the battery power. Fix them back in place with glue if they're detached.

Step 3. Look in your car's manual for the electrical wiring diagram. Take out the defroster switch and see which wire leads into it and which one leads out to the grid. The switch is bad if the defroster works while both wires are jumped. Replace the switch with a new one.

Step 4. Inspect your rear window for breaks in the defroster lines. Buy a defroster repair kit at any major auto parts store if you find breaks. Clean the defective part of the window with rubbing alcohol. Use masking tape to isolate the break, and apply the conductive paint included in your kit. Let the paint dry for 24 hours.

Thanks a million guys! I found my problem, the terminals that's atttach to the rear window has been disconnected due to the high heat and melted off the glue( or some kind of metal glue).

any advice on what kinda glue would work? can't use regular ones that would melt off and won't conduct..

buy a new end and solder with wire, and wire to the melted clip and attach the wire to the new piece, then use electic tape to seal it up then silcon cover it up.
