My Corolla 06 has OEM tires 185/65/R14….how do I check for zeroing……& which tires sizes should I go for…..since I plan changing the wheels to 16/17”?
Curious to learn how to use this to zero........I mean how does one calculate.........put in the OEM values in the left.... OEM values 185/65/R14 shows 14 X 7 X ET10.........what does that signify & what do I do next?
Pros & cons of reaching a zero value?
Thanks.

You can pick various sizes and see how they will affect your speedometer readings. For me, I plan to go to a wider size and try to maintain standard readings on my speedo and odometer. I am looking at 215/60/15 for my new tires - should be real close to my factory stock size of 195/65/15, in regards to the speedo readings. I also have 6.5 inch wide aftermarket wheels on my car that should fit these tires pretty well.
Factory revs (of the tire) per mile = 807, new size (215) = 802

Is this the kind of info you are asking about?
Not tire size.......wheel/alloy size.

it's not bad, but probably not your offset. The smaller the the offset value, the more the wheel goes outward towards the fender.
You need to find out what your stock offset is if you want to bring your wheels flush with your fenders-if thats what you're trying to do.
OK …….now it's clear.........ideally can never be zero?
This is my stock offset......is it good?
Presently am using 195/60/15"............values again are 15/7/ET=10.......but when I measured these alloys they were 8.25" width, this zeroing calculation shows 7".............strange??................plan to change to 16/17".........will keep both calculations into context.

10 is a small or a big value?..........smaller the value e.g 5........ the wheel shall get closer to the fender........am I correct....so hypothetically offset should be more for the wheels to remain away from the fender?

Your offset is NOT ET 10. If it were, your wheels would be sticking out beyond the fenders.
For example: My rear wheels on my MR2 have a +35 offset and they are flush with my fenders. The wheels I replaced(aftermarket) had an offset of +40 and they were 5mm inside the edge of my fenders.
So the smaller the ET value, the further out the wheel will be towards the fender.
If you're not concerned about the " flushness", then get wheels with an offset between +38 & +42. Those should be safe and close to your stock offset.
The closer you get your wheels to the fenders, the wider stance you will have and the better handling you'll have. Looks cool too.
185 X65 X 14 …………Offset (ET) =10……….. Width of alloys when measured showed 8.25”, here it shows 7”??

Correct.
the larger the value, the more "tucked" inwards from the fender.
Why this zeroing formula shows width of the wheel as 7" vs on ground when measured was 8.25"?

Now using this wheel/ tire calculator width displayed is 7"?
