Car won't start

Hi there.

I have a Corolla model 2006, all services done. When trying to start the car, it behaves like the battery is dead (no engine sound, only the clicking sound is heard continuously), but it probably isn't as everything electrical works as it should, radio, lights, warning signs, etc.. Also the car made enough miles today without any problem at all. Outdoor temperature about 5 degrees Celsius.

Any ideas or suggestions for things to try? Could something be wrong with they key's immobilizer chip. Would this explain such behavior?

Thank you in advance.

Starter is dead, in my opinion. Check with mechanic to make sure.

Also check the CCA on your battery. You will see three markings, CA, CCA, and RA. These are the CA- Cranking amps, CCA- Cold cranking amps and RA is how long it can supply this amperage. if im not mistaken a starter can pull up to 400 amps when activated. The CA's are rated at 32 degrees Farenheit, and the CCA's at 0 degrees farenheit. its a good idea to buy a multimeter or voltimeter to verify your batterys voltage on start, idle and rev. Hope this helps, Let me know if you have any more Q's.

Thank you for replying.

I finally called a mechanic and as it turned out it was the battery after all!!! I replaced it with a new one and now everything is back to normal.
