I'm not sure the hassle would be worth it really. Even if you saved half ($250), you might go through that much trouble later on if you do have a problem. Say you have an issue where the car doesn't start, and maybe the real problem is something electrical NOT tied to the aftermarket remote start. But Toyota wouldn't have a very easy time diagnosing it, and would have reasonable cause to leave it up to you to possibly prove that the remote starter isn't the issue. SHOULD that be the way it works, no. But IS that the way I would expect it to work, yeah.
I'd probably spend the few extra hundred bucks now to have the assurance that if something DID happen in the future, you've got a Toyota system installed by a Toyota dealer, no finger pointing allowed.
