Maint Required dash light on

Happy New Years.
A while back I changed the oil and filter on my girl friends 2005 Corolla due to a maintenance required light being on on the dash board. This was my first oil change on my girl friends car.

The light is still on so i took he car to Auto Zone and there are no codes. The employee said some cars have a switch that needs to be pushed (reset) after an oil change is done.

Does anyone know where this switch is so I can reset it.

It's not an error code, you can reset it. I don't know it by heart, but the procedure is described in the users manual. I have to look it up every time I change the oil. (And now I'm too lazy to go out to the parking lot in this cold.)

Make sure your Odometer is set to the real odometer, and not one of the two trip odometer modes.

Then turn off the car.

Then push and hold the odometer reset button.

Turn the car on (you don't have to start the engine, but turn the car all the way on with the key)

Keep holding the button, the odometer should show 5 dashes which will slowly disappear one at a time. When the last one disappears the Maint. Req. light should turn off.

Thanks Shawn, I'll give it a try in the morning.

That did the trick. Thanks again.
