hey has anybody put scion tc rims on and had a problem with their steering wheel shaking? I torqued it down, got an alignment but there is still vibrations. I am thinking that it may need hub centric rings but wanted to get some feed back first. Any input helps thanks.
no, they are completely different. in my previous post i made a slight error, the TC lug nuts are not tapered whereas the corolla ones are, my bad. but yes, you should definitly use the TC lug nuts if you are using the TC wheels. using the stock corolla lugs with TC wheels makes it so that the lugs only thread on a fraction of amount that they should be. the TC lug nuts have a longer "shank" and thread onto a lot more threads on the lugs. honestly, it's not safe to use stock corolla lug nuts with TC wheels. when I was trying to put my TC wheels on for the first time i couldn't get the stock wheels off, they were seized to the hubs. So I took it to the dealership and they offered not only to get my stockers off but also throw on the TC wheels as well for me. when they saw how little the stock lug nuts threaded on with the TC wheels on the tech just stopped right there and told me he couldn't do it due to safety reasons! he said that without the lug nuts from a TC, he couldn't do the job. so basically dude, you need to get some TC lug nuts. I don't know if that's what causing your vibrations but it wont hurt to get them.

Could also check to see if there are any "bumps" in the wheels themselves. Have the tech mount the wheel ONLY on the balance machine and hand spin it to see if it produce any vibrations. I had to get 3 of my rims on my Civic balanced because the previous owner didn't know how to drive.
They are feeding you a bunch of bullshit at the dealership. I had TC wheels on my 05 Supercharged S for the winter and I used my oem factory lugnuts and they fit just fine. If your Corolla came with steelies from the factory then you can not use those "acorn" style lug nuts or if you had aftermarket wheels which generally come with "Spline style" lug nuts you can't use those either. If you have the oem lug nuts that come with the factory alloy wheels then you can use them when mounting the TC wheels on.
I sold my 1zz and purchased a 2zz XRS and my XRS came with TC wheels already mounted, again using the oem lugs from the factory. So unless you are using the lugs that come with steelies then you should be fine.
