Please Help

I have a 2003 corolla. Well my girlfriends dad does. but it has 120,000 miles on it. THey never checked the oil and it just so happened i was driving when the engine started knocking. They go by dummy lights. If the light doesn't come on then they don't worry about it. (DUMB) So my pap and I took the engine out and come to find out it needs bearing, crank kit, and rod. We called toyota and they were willing to help even thought it wasn't under warranty. But they said becuz we didnt take it to Toyota, they wouldn't help becuz they have no idea whether the oil light came on or not. ( cuz i explained how no light or indication was shown on the dash to even know it was low.) But When someone gets in a wreck and was not waering their seat belt than the little guy onn the dash is still shown after the wreck. (to prove they weren't wearing their seat belt during the crash) and insurance companies will not pay if the light is on. So my Question is : Would the oil light still be on after taking the engine out if the battery is hooked up ? i would think it would. It doesnt take the engine to make headlights and dash lights does it??? That way it would prove that the light never came on. Someone please help. Don't have the money to fix a broken car right now...... Thanks

It seems unlikely that you can get them pay. The light indicates only low pressure. It is still your responsibility to check the oil level, which may be low even if the light is not on. It is also your responsibility to realize that the light didn't come on when you turn on the car. Plus, they can say that you took out the bulb and put in a faulty one after you ruined your engine.

But of course, you can still try, good luck.

Thanks. Altough i agree its someones responsibity to check oil. however it wasn't mine. Her dad said i could use the car. His car. he shouldve checked the oil before saying i could use it. They have went through 2 cars because they fail to check oil or even change it. I myself am not a mechanic but i am a DYI er. I am semi smart about them. i Have another question. Its about my 97 camaro Z.lol Car was starting fine and radio was workin. Then i went to start it and the fuse labeled \"PWR ACCRY" blew. so i put another one in. It blew as soon as it hit the insert. Like instantly. Now my car wont turn over. it just clicks. cd player will come on and off on and off. and now when i put that fuse in it doesnt blow nemore but nothing will happen. ?? any suggestions
