RPM drops and wont accelerate

im driving a 2005 corolla S and i've been having this problem for about a week

i fueled up and drove around for a while.
I pulled up to a red light and when i tried to go, the car wouldnt go!

the RPM's dropped really low and no matter how hard i pressed the accelerator, they would not go up and the car would not take off. It would just coast as it normally would without the accelerator being pressed.

the check engine light came on and i pulled over and turned the engine off.
i checked the gas cap thinking that maybe i didnt close it right. it seemed ok and when i turned on the car, it started running fine again but the check engine light stayed on.

it now does that at random times, usually at a stop sign or red light.

i had the codes checked and it was a P0606 code and he told me i needed a new ECM.

since i bought this car second-hand and salvaged, i need to pay for the repairs out of pocked ( north of $500 just for the ECM, $150 for programming and $200 in labor costs)

any opinions?

outline-

loses rpm
wont accelerate
still coasts
check engine light
code p0606

That has the TSB. Do you know you have to pay for it out of pocket? I am not sure how repairs work for a salvaged titled car.

The emissions warranty covers the ECU for 8 years or 80,000 miles.

You need a new ECU, and only the dealer can install it. Not sure if you can get an ECU out of a junk yard.

i thought warranties only applied to original owners.

That is part of the federal emissions warranty, it should transfer, but I am not sure how salvaged vehicles are dealt with when it comes to the emissions warranty. Maybe the paperwork that came with your car discusses it?
