Question Help!! Vehicle Intrusion Prevention!!

Bought a 2003 LE Corolla and long story short, I disconnected the battery and reconnected it and now the alarm is stuck in "sounding" mode. I read that if you unlock the door with the key or put the key in the ignition "on" setting it should cancel the alarm. This does not work. Please help!

Is there a way to disable this alarm feature for good?

Forgot to mention that there's an immobilizer on the alarm, so my car won't currently start. This is extremely frustrating. I removed the fuse for the horn so it stopped blasting my eardrums.

I found this post on Tundra solutions:
http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forum...vip-intrusion/

Seems to cover most of what I'm going through. Like this person, the LED on my Corolla does not show a "Toyota" or anything like that. I'm starting to think it's an aftermarket alarm since it doesn't respond to the steps laid out in the owner's manual. So any advice on removing the plastic dash under the steering column? I'm going to attempt that tonight to look for an alarm wiring box. Can I just unplug the wires?

Did you hit the unlock button on the key fob? If you did then you can try something that may or may not work. Try disconnecting the battery again and with the battery disconnected put the key in the ignition to the on position. Leave the key in the on position and connect the battery. The car may start now but, I have never tried this on a corolla so, I don't know if it will work. I have done this several times and it usually overides the alarm. I hope this helps.

I did try to put the key in and disconnect/reconnect the battery. No success there. Ended up calling a local service center though and they told me this. The LED indicator beside the wheel is a push in/push out switch. If you push it out, put the key into the "on" position and then push the switch in, that turns off the alarm!

There's nothing giving that sequence in the owners manual. Thanks Toyota!

Anway, problem resolved, and hopefully anyone else that comes across this may get the help they're looking for. Love the car other than this little mishap.
