electric problems== help please-

2003 vibe and 2004 corolla. on the vibe the other day license plate blub was shaking loose so i stuck some aluminum paper down in the socket to tighten it. blew a fuse. replaced the fuse. and installed new blub and all was o k . next day one front head light was not working. today i bought a head light blub. now before i could insatll it i notice "both" head lghts will not work in "day time driving" and also will not work when i turn on the head lights using the "stalk". i tried with the engine running in drive and reverse,etc. BTW - corolla book says to actually take the car to the dealer for license plate blub replacement or you could screw something up. maybe i did !!! any advice will be appreciated .thanks guys.

By both head lights to you mean all 4 head light bulbs or both as in the left side bulbs don't work? I would check the relay and the socket connections.

both regular"drl"

day time driving lights do not automatically light up when i start the car and put it into drive as of today. also i tried to turn on the head lights using the stalk and they will not light up either. i do have the circular amber lights woking towards the outside of the lenses assembly. i can flash the "bright lights" to the on position and they stay on o k . all the rear lights,etc. seem to be o k .

car is parked in a car port and there,s plenty of day light outside. i,m waiting to see what will happen later tonight. the blubs are sylvania plus 30%. thanks.

That's odd that BOTH headlights went out at basically the same time.

apparently it did happen.

but i,d bet that the blown fuse had something to do with it. and i was getting ready to spend big bucks at the dealer or auto electric shop. wow. sometimes the simple things work.

but don,t ever use aluminum paper in a fuse box . reminds me of the time out camping when i tried to use a potato chip bag for toilet paper. it didn,t work either.

You probably shorted the system with the aluminum foil, and that may have done something with the headlights.
