it happens to my car too daily at morrning, when taking a sharp turn to the left to take the car out of parking lot. I think it is related to the power steering, and it's a weird sound for me too.
I'm not sure, it's the same sound you are facing, but this happens to be in a cold.

CV joints

If it's a clicking/clunking type sound, it's probably your CV joints. Look under your car and see in the CV boots are torn, if they are, that's the problem--time for rebuilt half-shafts. Even if the boots aren't torn, if you hear this sound when turning, there's a 90% chance it's the CV joints.....If you don't know what a CV joint is, google it for photos and description.

Bowling ball in trunk.

Don't laugh... I actually had someone ask me about the "clunk" they kept hearing when they made turns. Also happened sometimes when they applied the brake hard or accelerated hard.

In the trunk was a bowling ball that had come out of it's bag and was rolling around loose.

In your case... A worn CV joint will make a clunking or clicking sound when turning, too. But the sound is from the front end.
