spongy brakes, excess pedal travel

The Vibe in my profile is the vehicle with the issue. the braking system is very similar and there is more people on this forum. thanks.

I have had somewhat spongy brakes since I got the car 10k miles ago. when I got the vehicle the front pads were fine but the rotors appeared warped. I just changed the rotors and pads yesterday and the vehicles stops great beside this spongy pedal. I bled the system at the 4 wheels. I am not sure how great a job i did I had my wife was womening the pedal. I bled each wheel about 3 or 4 times. The brakes are still soft, spongy and they travel to far. you can get them pumped up a little. all suggestions before it visits the pro Shop would be appreciated

You either have air in the system, or its possible that someone put the wrong fluid in the brake fluid reservoir and it softened up the seals in the master cylinder. Just had one last week where the guy put engine oil into the brake reservoir. People do weird stuff when they dont have a clue. Another interesting one was a quick lube place that put DOT 5 fluid in a DOT 3 or 4 system that destroyed all the rubber parts in there. Your best course of action in my opinion would be to take it to a shop and at least get their opinion on it. You dont want to take a chance when it comes to brakes.
