a way to take off the Autoheadlight?

I have a 07 corolla and I was curious if there is anyway to disengage the auto headlights on function. I was told i can try to take out the plug with the autolight function (not sure what the name exactly said i have it on a slip of paper) but when i did that the headlights didnt even turn on or wouldnt turn on...
Does anyone know what I can do to make it so i can turn on my headlights manually and not have it automatically come on?
Thanks
Nick

ok, well what do you know about automotive electrical wiring? are you "do-it-yourself" inclined at all? you could find a wiring diagram for the headlights and wire in a relay and switch so you can control when they turn on. it may be a tad more complicated than that, i don't know for sure maybe someone else will chime in who has actually done something along these lines, but that's basically how you could do it.

Find the DRL (daytime running light) module located above the brake pedal. Find “Pin #12”. It is the red/white (red with white strip) wire closest to the lable on the DRL module and closest to the big pair of wires coming out of the module. Follow the wire about 2 inches down from the DRL module and cut the red/white wire. Now you no longer have DRL and the lights will only come on when the switch is turned on. If you want, you can splice a wire to the ones you cut and run it to a switch to active the DRL whenever you want or add a spade connector and reconnect the wires when needed.

This works with the US built Corolla’s.
