Electronic Throttle Control

Does anyone know when the Corolla started using the ETC instead of the manual control. I think it is the 2005 but not sure.

Then this would mean that there are two types of throttle for 9th generation Corolla: mechanical throttle (before 2005) and ETC (from 2005).

What gas pedals do they use in these ETC models? ( Denso gas pedals or ETS gas pedals?)

If they use ETS gas pedals, why they are not included in the recall list?

There are two types of throttle designs. The 9thgen XRS has a regular old fashioned throttle body, regardless of year.

The pedal design and throttle body is different between the DBW 9th gen and 10 gen corollas and the 10th gen have the problems. The recall does not affect every DBW/pedal system Toyota ever made, just the newer models.

I don't know who the manufacturer is, but the pedal in my 2005 doesn't look like either current pedal (the Denso or the CTS).

If I think about it this afternoon I'll try to get a picture of it.

If you have a NUMMI Corolla (Vin starts with a 1) you have a Delphi pedal, as do the Vibe's and Tacoma's built there at the same time.
