weeping power steering fluid
Hello,
My 2005 Corolla CE is starting to weep just a bit of power steering fluid from the rack and pinion unit. It has only gone down about a spoonful or two in 6 months, but it is a bit damp around the unit. The car has only 24000 miles on it. The dealer says it is almost unheard of for one to start to leak at that mileage, but of course won't do a thing to work with me on the cost of replacement. Checked around, and the going price is about $1190.oo. So, I emptied the reservoir and added some Lucas power steering fluid conditioner and sealer. Have heard some good things about it on other sites. Anyone here ever use it or know about it? Lucas recommends adding this instead of regular fluid either until the leak stops or until 8 to 16 ounces have been added. I only got about 4 ounces in it and will watch to see what happens. Just curious if anyone else has had this problem or used this product. I could change the unit myself for about $400 but it is a bit bigger project than I care to take on right now.
