2006 Corolla starts up, then immediately dies?

My fiance has a 2006 Corolla LE automatic that has less than 20,000 miles on it and is in good shape. Back in January we had a remote started installed with a bypass module so we did NOT lose any keys.

However, this morning we went to go drive to look at houses and the car would start up and then immediately die out. It would be on for no more than 2 seconds and then kill itself.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this is related to the car starter in some way? It has been fine for the past two months, but not I believe it may be causing an issue? I have read on google that there have been issues in the past with the ECU not recognizing the "chip" in the key?

Any other ideas or solutions on what this may be?

Right now I have disconnected the battery and intend to leave it disconnected overnight and hook it up in the morning and see what happens then.

Thanks!

Go back to the place where you had the Remote start installed. If they are like Best Buy they will look at the vehicle and try to diagnose the issue. If it is the starter and the fault of the install then I would try to get the place to fix the issue.

I am having the car towed to the shop that installed the remote starter tomorrow. Sucks, but I am getting Liberty Mutual to pay for half of the tow. Hopefully the shop can reimburse us for this cost since they screwed up the remote starter.
