2006 Toyota Corolla S Alarm?

Hi, Im new to this forum.

Okay I have a bit of a problem with my 2006 Corolla S. About a month ago i was in a car accident and my corolla was in the shop for about a week and a half. Before it went in the shop everything worked fine. But when i received my corolla the alarm was not work at all. I checked the remote at my local auto parts store. the shop guy arranged me to go to a locksmith to try to do a on board programming procedure.

I need help what i should do next. I told that the shop guy that i was going to check the fuses and i would get back to him.

Another thing i was wondering can the battery be factor. because the shop guy said he disconnected it while they were welding. before the accident my battery was a bit weak since i left the lights on one time. Also ever since my battery died The "MANT' REQ" light came on.

help! thank you.

the "maintenance required" light lights up when you've gone a certain number of miles since it was last reset, it's for things like oil changes. and the battery wouldn't be the root of your alarm problem if you can still start your car since being able to start the car shows that the battery is good. is your alarm aftermarket? or are you just talking about the "panic" button on your key-fob?

the alarm is the factory alarm. The door will not lock and unlock without the remote nor will it activate the panic button. The horn is fine.

so you're saying the unlock/lock buttons on the key-fob work but the panic button does not?

I got the remote checked at AutoZone and they told me it was fine. The car alarm does not do anything when i press neither of the three buttons.

well, the alarm is not supposed to do anything when the lock or unlock buttons are pressed (I wish it did beep, though, when you lock it) but the horn should start honking repeatedly and the hazard lights should flash too when the panic button is pressed. does any of that happen when you press "panic"?

The remote used to unlock and lock the car. Now it doesnt do anything. Not even the panic button.

Sounds like you may need to reprogram your Remote.

Programming your REMOTE!
  • Start with the key out of the ignition. Open the driver door (all other doors are closed). Driver door is unlocked (other doors don’t matter).
  • Perform these steps within 5 seconds
    • Insert the key into the ignition (don’t turn it) Pull key out
    • Insert the key into the ignition (don’t turn it) Pull key out
  • Perform these steps within 40 seconds
    • Close, then open the drivers door.
    • Close, then open the drivers door.
    • Insert the key into the ignition (don’t turn it) and pull it out.
  • Perform these steps within 40 seconds
    • Close, then open the drivers door.
    • Close, then open the drivers door.
    • Insert the key into the ignition and leave in the ignition.
    • Close the drivers door
Turn the ignition to ON (as far as you can go without cranking the engine), then back to off.
    • Remove the key from the ignition.
  • Within 3 seconds, the power door locks should lock then unlock automatically indicating successful entry into programming mode. Return to step 1 if the locks do not cycle at this point.
  • Perform these steps within 40 seconds
    • Press the lock and unlock buttons on the transmitter simultaneously for 1.5 seconds
    • Immediately after letting go of the lock and unlock buttons, press the lock button by itself and hold for 2 seconds. Within 3 seconds, the door locks should lock then unlock once indicating successful programming. If the door locks cycle twice, repeat steps 6a and 6b as the remote was not accepted.
  • Open drivers door
