hi! one of my ignition wires is broken, i replaced it with a... '99 wire! would it damage my engine? i can not find '05 wire... please where i can buy it cheap? thanks in advance of your help!
I am confused. I thought the 9th (2003-08) Corollas did not have spark plug wires.

They do not, ours is a coil-on-plug system. There are no spark plug wires per-se, maybe he's talking about the actual coils or maybe the harness to the coils?

thank you! first: this is my first car, i bought it used, so i'm completely newbie with cars, so please pardon my ignorance! ... euh... i think you must be right! i just came back from an auto parts store near my work, and when they checked their computer, they told me that too!
so... argh! i think the mechanic lied : he said he changed the original dead engine ('99) with a '05 one. there is a storm in my head right now!
so now, please help me: i would like to know what year, model is my engine , please? please just tell me where/what/which part of to my car to take pictures of , and i will do it! thanks!

thanks for coming to help me! oh my God, my head is stormy now! i did take a picture yesterday of both wires, new & old ones, and they look exactly the same! i mean the old one, (supposedly '05), in gray; new one (real 99), in black.
well, in that pic that is an ignition wire. are you sure you have a 9th gen corolla with a 1ZZ-FE engine?? take a picture of your car and your engine, maybe that can clarify some things for us

thank you trdspeed140 for thinking about me & my mechanical problem! i'm very very sorry for this very late message & my impoliteness: i have been very busy for the last 3 days. thank you for your understanding & patience!
Either the car isn't an 05, or the engine isn't the original one.
2005 Corollas did not use ignition wires on the 1ZZ.

thank yu jeff! sincerily i don't know! this is my first car! i just posted some pics of my car, please take a look! thanks.. please, if someone has an answer/advice for me, please don't hesitate! thanks
Car is a 1998-1999. Everything from 2000-up had individual coils, no wires.
You need to get wires for a 1998-1999.
Jeff
