2004 corolla rear brake drum manufacturer?

Hello Toyotanation,

I searched around the forums and didn't see any specific mention of this. I'm getting ready to do a brake job on the girlfriends corolla (first time on a toyota, many times on other cars) and was looking for part info on the rear brakes.

Most sites/stores list a japanese made and USA made rear kit. Is there an easy or typical way to tell the difference? The car was purchased new in the US, but wasn't sure if that meant the rear brakes were US made. Is there a common configuration based on sales location?

I could probably start tearing it appart to look for the 'Made in..." stamp, but would rather have all the parts ready before digging in.

Thanks!

Look at the Vin, if it starts with a J, it is made in Japan, if it has another letter, it is US made. That will help you select the kit.

Look at your VIN:

JT = Japan
1N = USA
2T = Canada
