I had the front pads replaced about 5 months ago. I have had it in to the dealer twice for this problem. They say the front brakes look fine, pads are good, no signs of anything marking up the rotors. Of course they could not duplicate the problem either time. I even went with the the tech the second time & it didn't happen. Their theory is it may be the rear brakes as they are used more when frequently stopping but the noise seems like it is in the front end to me. My powertrain warranty is up at 100000kms so I would like to get it figured out ASAP if it is a powertrain issue. Anyone else have this problem??

Roll your windows down and with the engine off in neutral , roll to a stop and at least figure out if it is the rear drums, if so check/replace shoes and rotors. You didn't say when your rear brakes were done, have they ever been done?? Drums will sound dry and raspy! They may get alot of dust in there!
