Question 5W20 Best for NC Summer on 2007 CE?

In searching it seems 5w20 is the recommended oil.

Is that the case for the summer? It's been VERY hot here (around 90) lately and I expect the summer to be warmer than average.

I have 46k on my corolla.

5W-30 or 5W-20 is fine, Pennzoil makes great oil.

No problem, the 06+ have a different dipstick so that makes for a larger sump.

Interesting, I hadn't seen that TSB though I did read at one point that the '06+ I4 2AZs could use 5W-20. I always found it odd that my aunt's '06 Corolla takes more oil than my '05 Camry. Now I know why, and the '06+ 2AZ Camrys must have a larger sump too.

Thanks for the info. Maybe I should try 5W-20 in the Corolla next month when I change its oil cause right now fuel economy is mediocre at best. Between my '05 Camry, an '05 Avalon, and the '06 Corolla I just use the same 5W-30/10W-30 synthetic oil - well, in the Corolla sometimes it's just the cheap Supertech synthetic.

I doubt you will get more than 0.4 mpg bump using 20W over 30W.

That's it? Well, it's going to get whatever I find then. I'd rather just run it with 5W-30 because the summers here are easily 90+ degrees and in stop and go driving I'm sure it's worse.
