USA 08 corolla airbag light reset

i have read some posts on here and there seems to be some very good information.

i bought a 08 corolla s, it had damage to both doors on drivers side. the drivers seat airbag and curtain airbag deployed. i replaced both doors and both airbags. i replaced sensor in the post located near bottom. (located between doors).

how do i get airbag light to reset.

was that the only sensor i needed to replace, all other airbags were intact.

thanks for any help.

I recently had to install air bags in my 06 corolla. When ANY of your air bags deploy, you must replace your air bag(s), impact sensors, air bag control module, and most of the times seat belt. When you get into an accident your seat belt permently locks up, also i know on the 06 there is an air bag wire leading to the seat belt and my light didn't go out until i installed the seat belt. (i tried installing with out the new seat belt, haha)

Try installing a new air bag control module. you can find them pretty cheap, like 75 dollars of Ebay, thats where i got all mine.

good luck =]

can you tell me where control module is located.
i guess the impact sensor was what i replaced between the two doors.
is there any other sensor that needs replacing.
i did replace seatbelt at the same time just to be on the safe side.

so after all that was done for you did light go out by its self, or is there some type of process to reset.

thanks

After i replaced eveything, the light went out immediatly. the Air bag control module is located under the dash, in a sense, you have to take out the center consol to get to it. I sadly dont have any pictures that really indicate well where it is. but when you take out the center console. the module should be behind the shifter.

If its just the sides that went off, the impact sensors that you replaced should be sufficient to turn the light off. I'll try to get some pictures.

i will be working on it monday to see if i can find that module. i can swap out the module wih the parts car to see if that has any effect, it wont hurt to try.

i was on the same page with you about the impact sensor, the car took really a very light hit in the passenger door. it was enough to deploy the curtain and driver seat bag.

i did not think it would take much to get the light to go off.
i had read about people having to go to dealer for a reset, i was trying to avoid that cost if possible.

thanks for info.

I know they dont exactly have the best repuation. personally i try to avoid going here as much as possible, but pep boys (atleast the one in my area) has an air bag tool that can reset the light. might be worth a try. i dont know how much they charge though, they were going to do it for me for free O.o

i was able to swap out airbag module and light went out. i guess you do have to change both impact and module when bags deploy.

thanks for the help and insight.
