Side View Mirror Repair

Hey all,

So my dad forgot to put the handbrake on when he parking in the garage, and low and behold, the car rolled back into some bushes and the side view mirror broke off.

I did some searching on the forums, and found a couple threads that seem like they would help. However, I'm not sure if we need to replace the entire thing or not.

The housing itself is not broken. What is broken is the piece of thick plastic that holds the mirror housing. If we were to buy off certifit or something a new mirror, would we be able to keep the dark grey housing and transfer everything else between the two? The power mirror itself still works - the 3 bolts attaching the mirror housing to the thick plastic piece broke off.

Any help appreciated. I'll try to get pics up so that you can see what I'm talking about more clearly.

Call Toyota and ask if they sell that part. If so scour the junk yards and find that part, or just buy it from the steeler.

A simple fix would be JB WELD (if you still have the small pieces that broke off - I have fixed many mirrors this way, works every time.

Buying the part from dealer can be pricey since dealerships charge an arm and a leg for just about anything.
