Flashes ever 4.5K miles and steady at 5K miles. Who changes your oil? They must do the reset.

The manual has the correct procedure to reset the maintenance light. Elsewhere in this site a poster indicated the following to reset the maintenance light: "with the car key on ACC, set your odometer on mileage(not trip a or b) then turn key off. then hold they button that switchs from odo and trip, then turn the key back to acc. while you are holding it down you will notice the maintenance light blink and go out. and then you are done. now that wasn't hard now was it."

Looks like the previous link I posted may have been slightly off on the steps. According to this one, http://www.ehow.com/how_6491945_clea...a-corolla.html, here are the steps to reset the light.
  1. Turn your ignition on to view the odometer. Press your "Trip" stem until the display shows "Odo," instead of "Trip A" or "Trip B."
  2. Turn the ignition off. Press and hold the "Trip" stem. Turn the ignition back on, while continuing to hold the "Trip" stem.
  3. Wait until the odometer shows "000000." This lets you know that the maintenance light is reset. Release the "Trip" stem and remove the key.

Edit to Add: If the light doesn't go out after the reset its possible that something else is tripping the maintenance light.
