07 corolla factory security system not arming

does anyone know or had this situation. with the key remote, i can lock doors and lights flash. the horn does not sound like on most car alarms. when i test the security system nothing happens. is there a fuse or something that needs to be reset. the remote seems like its working fine, the panic red button works and horn alarms.

any help, thanks

Are you sure your Corolla is equipped with an alarm? The blinking "security" LED on the left hand side of the steering wheel is on ALL Corollas with the engine immobilizer. What that means is that unless you or the original owner added a factory VIP alarm, it's just a keyless entry system.

I thought the same thing as you when I test drove an '05 Corolla back when I bought my Camry, and I quickly realized that security light was simply for the engine immobilizer.

i just assumed it had a security system. is there a way to know if you have one or not without a dealer cost involved.

thanks

If your security panel has a picture of a car with a key in the middle and a red led light, you have the factory engine immobilizer.

If your security panel has the word “Toyota” at the top and “Security” at the bottom with a red led light and a small circle with seven small holes in the circle, you have the factory security system - RS3200 or RS3200 Plus.

Sorry but no horn will sound with either one.

I'm glad that Toyota chose not to make the horn sound when the alarm activates. I have neighbors that are obsessive compulsive that press on their remote many times and listening to the horn just bugs the shit out of me, especially when i am trying to get to sleep. Kudos to toyota
